Today in Ukraine, blessings and hymns celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ were spread throughout the churches.
Easter, when Jesus rose again after his suffering and death, is the greatest Christian holiday and feast. On this day, families, lovers, and friends gathered at the church with baskets. The baskets were filled with the delicious Easter bread, 'Pascha', which symbolizes the life of Jesus.
After the service, people gathered in front of the church, placed the Pascha baskets under their feet, and waited for the priest to bless them. The priest soaked the holy water in the chalice (Кропило) and made the sign of the cross on the believers' faces and Pascha, blessing them. As the cool holy water sprinkled on their faces on a warm spring day, both the priest and the believers had faces full of smiles and laughter.
