Many of the graves here have new, still-wet soil.
I came to Kramatorsk, the frontline city on the Donetsk front line in Ukraine.
Kramatorsk is about 34km from Bakhmut, the fiercest battleground during Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It's about the same distance from Seoul to Suwon.
We went to the Kramatorsk Cemetery, where Ukrainian citizens who lost their lives during the Russian invasion are buried.
All the graves were newly made, so the soil hadn't even dried yet. The years of death written on the gravestones were all engraved as 2023 and 2024. The area we saw today was one of the war victims' cemeteries. There was a war victims' cemetery several times larger than this one.
Even those who lost their lives in the Russian army's attack were not identified, so the number of signs and pits that were only written as numbers for selection purposes were 300, 400 or more.
The wind that I felt while taking pictures here that day felt colder than ever.
