On December 20, the day before yesterday, a Russian ballistic missile fell in the middle of a downtown street in Kyiv. One of the high-rise buildings was severely damaged by an explosion on the top floor, and several other buildings were severely damaged by the missile explosion.
The stained glass of St. Nicholas Cathedral, less than 200 meters from the point of impact, and the windows of the nearby foreign embassy buildings were also severely damaged. One person was killed and 10 were injured.
Today, the second day after the bombing, recovery efforts are continuing. Residents leaving their apartments with carriers looked at the destroyed buildings, and local residents were busy clearing away the debris.
The missile explosion caused severe damage to the facades of the surrounding high-rise buildings. Workers working on the outer walls of the buildings, starting from the top, hung precariously on ropes, tearing off damaged facades, windows, and tiles by hand. Bulldozers and excavators swing their arms repeatedly to clear the debris.
