Today, the funeral of Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roshchyna was held.
She covered the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the siege of Mariupol in 2022, and despite threats to her life, she reported on Russian war crimes and torture of prisoners and civilians.
In August 2023, she attempted to report undercover in Russian-occupied Ukraine, but was arrested, detained, tortured, and killed.
Forensic analysis of her body, returned from Russia, revealed signs of beatings, electric torture, burns, strangulation, and postmortem dissection. Her brain, both eyeballs, and parts of her organs were missing. Russia had mummified parts of her body during long-term storage.
Her death is evidence of Russia's war crimes against Ukraine, the torture and murder of journalists, and attempts to cover up these war crimes.
