The name of this exhibition, held in collaboration with the Frankfurt German Architectural Museum and the Goethe-Institut, is 'PROTEST/ARCHITECTURE. BARRICADES AND TENTS: THE WORLD AND UKRAINE.' It is an exhibition that provides a glimpse into the 'history of resistance' created by citizens of Ukraine and the world by collecting protest structures such as barricades and tents, as well as their records. This day coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Orange Revolution in Ukraine and the 11th anniversary of the Dignity Revolution in Ukraine, the 'Ukrainian Maidan Day.' Former President Viktor Yushchenko, who survived a poisoning attempt by Russia and served as the third President of Ukraine, attended the exhibition and gave a congratulatory speech. I went to the gathering of the guests to take a picture, and it turned out that the old man with white hair in front of me was none other than former President Yushchenko. From the revolutions in Western Europe in 1948 to the Arab Spring, the Orange Revolution in Ukraine and the Euromaidan Revolution, the storming of the U.S. Capitol, and the democracy movement in Myanmar. Throughout this exhibition, the history, images, and model buildings of all kinds of protests around the world are installed. Also on display are documentary footage of the cries from that day, catapults, helmets, and bulletproof vests used during the Euromaidan Revolution. In particular, I saw records of the '2019 Hong Kong Democracy Movement', my first conflict reporting event that I personally went to see, in this exhibition. The Hong Kong Democracy Movement was my first experience and first step toward my dream of covering conflicts and wars around the world. After five years, I looked back on this history again in Ukraine - a country that has gone through revolution and war. I had a strange feeling that I was also riding the great wave of human history called the 'fight for freedom' and its flow. Easter, when Jesus rose again after his suffering and death, is the greatest Christian holiday and feast. On this day, families, lovers, and friends gathered at the church with baskets. The baskets were filled with the delicious Easter bread, 'Pascha', which symbolizes the life of Jesus. After the service, people gathered in front of the church, placed the Pascha baskets under their feet, and waited for the priest to bless them. The priest soaked the holy water in the chalice (Кропило) and made the sign of the cross on the believers' faces and Pascha, blessing them. < Back [포토] Russian UAV killed a 14-year-old girl 현지용 기자 2024년 10월 26일 On Friday, October 25, 2024, at 9:08 p.m., a Russian UAV, Shahed, struck a high-rise apartment building in a residential area of Kyiv. The attack killed a 14-year-old girl and injured at least five others. The fire was extinguished with the help of medical personnel and firefighters. After the explosion, all residents of the apartment were forced to evacuate their homes and wait until dawn to prevent secondary fires caused by internal insulation and for the firefighters to conduct search and rescue operations. The 17th to 21st floors of the apartment were blackened by the Russian airstrike. It was clearly visible from outside. Firefighters had to search for other survivors in the charred remains and darkness. While waiting in front of the apartment to take additional photos, an air raid siren suddenly sounded at midnight. Rescue workers ordered residents and reporters to immediately enter the underground parking lot of the apartment building and take refuge. This is because the Russian military uses the so-called 'double-tap' method, which kills civilians and rescue workers who gather at the airstrike site after the airstrike. I could read deep fear and horror in the eyes of those who hurriedly took refuge in the underground parking lot. That night, this apartment became the place where the destruction and tragedy of the enemy's airstrike occurred. However, those waiting to return home after the rescue team's search and work were finished also tried not to lose their strength. Mr. Oleksandr and Mr. Serhiy, residents of the apartment, asked me many questions about South Korea and North Korea while I was waiting in front of the apartment.
